Conditions Report, week of November 6

--Kurt Withers spent last weekend on Heliotrope ridge getting a feel for conditions; it looks like Winter has arrived in Washington state.  His blog can be found  here .

--While we haven't gotten an specific reports about Heliotrope, Ian Ferguson got out to Skyline Divide and reports a thin but stable snowpack at ~6,000', with depths ranging from 8" on windward aspects to 3' on lee slopes.  With 6"- 8" at the trailhead, it is time to get the planks out.

--In honor of Veteran's Day, the Forest Service is giving visitors to the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest free access to more than 70 day-use  sites  Nov. 9 - 11.

-- The annual Snowbash, a NWAC fundraiser will be held in Seattle on November 6, and in Glacier at Chair Nine on November 9.  Be there -- we will!

--The the weeklong  Portland Alpine Fest , which celebrates Northwest mountain culture through films, clinics, events and competitions is coming up Nov. 11 - 16, and looks great!
