thank you for your site! What a find for me. I too was misdiagnosed. I noticed a profound change in my breast at the beginning of 2008 which my doctor put down to my age and being perimenopausal. At the end of 2008 at my next annual I again showed her and told her that I did not feel this was right but the explinations she gave and the trust I had even against the voice raging in my head made me believe all was really ok. My mammogram came back with a suspicious change which led to a biopsy which came back with a dx on Jan 21 of IDC. I have two young kids and I am fighting for them as much as for myself.
The one thing I want to do is to raise awareness that 1. Mammograms need to happen way before 40 years of age and 2. Doctors need to see breast cancer diffrently.
I sat through my mastecomy information class with a 25 year old woman. There has to be a better way. I want to say that I am beginning to do my homework and am looking for ways to get my voice heard. If there is anything I can do to help you please let me know. If cancer has taught me nothing else it is that I need to try to speak for those who come after me.
I wish you the best of health.
