I'd like to know from others' experience: can the rash I have contracted, pretty much all over my body, with red spots and itchiness, followed by dry sky (when I shower too often to try to calm the itches) and resultant worse itchiness, could be related to my life partner's use of marijuana. I had not known he smoked pot/heard what I wanted to hear. Living in a rural area, the next dermatology apt. in the closest city an hour away is many months off, so I haven't been able to get an answer. I'd like to at least know if there could be a connection. The rash began with our physical contact about six months ago. (Nothing else has changed in my life -- I'm aware of soaps, scents, etc. and keep a routine without varying my perfume-free products that works for me.) I got the rash calmed down, though not healed. Coincidentally he told me recently, he wasn't smoking as much. Then we got everything out in the open about the pot use after he'd started using again, daily; now my skin is as bad as ever. Body contact, contact with his sweat hurts the raw areas.
I had allergies as a child and, by willing wellness, pretty much overcame all but a couple of them. I'm 62 now. When this man, the love of my life, and I met, I had lovely healthy happy skin.
My partner has suggested he would quit using marijuana in order to preserve our relationship. I haven't asked him to yet as I don't know if this is the cause. I do have to get my skin health back. I'm wondering, if there is a connection, how long would he need to have stopped smoking in order for us to be together without my skin flaring up? What about that pot stays in hair for up to three years? Can the presence in hair transfer to a mate?
Thank you so much! I'll appreciate any insights.
