Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day here in Sussex.
This is a day created by locals who want to spread good feeling and we’re hoping word will spread so it becomes a nationwide thing. So far today I’ve been offered free chocolate by the receptionist of my workplace and given a red rose during my lunch break. It certainly put a smile on my face.
Organiser Sarah Evans explains the idea behind the day: – “We’re encouraging people to make small acts of kindness – something that costs nothing and has a profound impact. We’re asking people to do little things on the day like taping a thank you note to the front door for the post man or woman or putting an extra treat in your shopping basket to give to the person behind the till, or paying for the person behind you at the toll bridge/tunnel. Anything at all that would make someone else happy or feel good”.
What a great idea. Anything that slows us down and makes us more aware and considerate of each other has to be a good thing. Shame we have to have a national day to recognise it though.
Take your other half by surprise tonight and do something random and fun (well, it is National Orgasm Day too, after all
