I met Katie Sarra last weekend at Eroticon . She’s an artist, writer, sex & relationships therapist and all-round inspiring mama. She was voted Erotic Artist of Year between 2008-2010 and I’ve been keen to experience a Tantric painting since I first saw her work. Her paintings are entrancing: playful, physical and vibrant and really draw you in to that healing space. I’m pretty happy with my body on the whole – giving birth has given me a whole new reverence for its power and capability but there are certain bits I’d love to view more positively and I wonder how the process of painting and therapy work together to faciliate that shift in consciousness.
Katie is exhibiting The Intimate Oil Collection (20 works) this month at Sh! Womenstore in Portobello and the Private View takes place tonight. Her work is playful and explores body image, intimacy and conscious sexuality. She says: ‘The collection bears witness to the self-love that each of the men and women have journeyed with, and invites us all to apologise deeply for ever having felt anything different. These paintings are mirrors into the exploration of voyeurism with loving eyes and generous body exhibitionism. They bear witness to the spontaneity of breathing our desires, hopes, dreams and passions into our heart spaces and exhaling with a yes! There is nothing more beautiful than to celebrate the reality of who we are in our naturalness.’
