We now know that cholesterol is not a very good risk indicator for heart disease. Your levels of triglycerides, homocysteine and C-reactive protein are much more accurate indicators.
Which leaves us with the fact that it is actually worse for your health to take statin drugs (with many known side effects such as loss of memory, kidney failure, muscle inflammation, etc.) to lower you cholesterol.
But it is also not a good idea to ignore your cholesterol levels, either.
The good news is that cholesterol is easily controlled through diet with none of the negative side effects of drugs.
