Here are a few more things to consider...
If he has ejaculated recently (ie - that day or the previous day), there may still be sperm 'in the pipe' and this sperm can get into the precum.
So bottom line... wear a condom or use some other method of birth control.
Also, while rare, you can get pregnant if he gets fluid on his hands and then puts his hands on the condom or your vagina.
Most birth control is only as effective as advertised when you follow the instructions completely. Other wise the effectiveness drops considerably.
The male sperm fluid is usually leaking and secreted from the penis during foreplay (called precum) before the penis enters the vagina.
Precum can contain small amounts of sperm content, but is a very minimal amount.
There seems to be some dispute about whether the leaking pre-cum sperm content can cause pregnancy...
So, if the penis never entered your vagina but was around it there may be a risk it could.
I wouldn't take the chance - use contraception, birth control pills and don't rely on penile withdrawal before ejaculation either.
