Where to Surf

Posted by Gabi B.

Are there any good places in Half Moon Bay where I can rent a wetsuit and board and get like a surf lesson. I am looking to be hard-core california style and be able to surf!

Go North For a DyHang Five and Go North Turn Dude . Half Moon Bay is the Indianapolis 500 of surfdom in these parts. Not recommended for learning, unless you want to learn how to bust your head. Come on up North and try Stinson Beach in Marin. Well worth the drive. Sunnier than most Bay Area Beaches. Gentle but ride able waves. Undertow, what undertow? Plenty of surf shops along the way and in town too. Find out about lessons and even Surf Camp at any one of them. If you look carefully, you can even spot the occasional great white fin. No worries. More Bay Area people get killed DAILY by cars than by sharks in a YEAR.
