This past weekend, I had the opportunity to hang out with some of the biggest names in Southern music, including Jimmy Van Zant and John Corbett. There were long hours of sound checks and set ups, with 90 degrees plus heat. I got to see exactly what they sustained themselves with.
Well, no doubt, Southern boys like themselves some Mountain Dew. But they also consumed a great deal of bottled water on stage, as well as Gatorade. The caterer heaped up plates of carb-intensive ziti with cheese and sausage, as well as garlic bread and pizza. No veggies or fruits. No desserts, either.
Many of the stars had two dinners: one at about 6:30 and one after they played. They all lasted until the wee hours of the night, too.
