A non-profit group is working to create a 300-mile trail along the MoeklumneRiver that will connect hikers, bikers, boaters and equestrians from the Pacific Crest Trail near EbbettsPass to the Mokelumne coast. A portion of the trail on U.S. Forest Service property in the MokelumneCanyon is spectacular, forest service specialist David Vosti told the Lodi News-Sentinel. “The views are incredible down into the Mokelumne Wilderness." he said. It may take years to get the trail completed, largely because it will require cooperation of many agencies and landowners along the river to cooperate. This News-Sentinel story explains who is involved in making the trail become a reality.
