Healthy Safe Laxatives

Posted Aug 23 08 3:19pm

Are you a bad mommy? Do you know a bad mommy?

If you ever had someone try to give you a yucky tasting laxative, you know what it feels like for this little girl throwing a tantrum at her Mommy.

Go check out this amazing advertisement in 1941 for Fletcher's Castoria laxative made from "wholesome Senna"! As many raw foodists know, senna can be a very intensive and potentially dangerous laxative! Can you pick out how many things are wrong with this ad?

So... you might need a laxative...but you don't want to throw a tantrum.

Which laxative do you choose?

What is a safe laxative for health conscious people?

I was just going to post about this silly ad, but then I realize that this post is a great opportunity to let me get serious for a moment and recommend a product that is safe and gentle and from the 21st Century. I want to help people out there learn about quality products that help people.

I would like to recommend Healthforce Nutritionals product called Intestinal Movement Formula.

I don't like to admit it, but I was that naughty little girl my whole life. All that constipating food I had as a kid was hard on my digestive system and I was always plugged up. My mom and grandma always forced prunes on me, and I hated it. (can you imagine eating icky conventional sugar sweetened prunes? Yuck!) I threw tantrums. I even remember a few of them.

When I first started my juice feast, I knew I needed a laxative. I started using Cascara Sagrada , with less than ideal results. It hurt. Not pleasant. So we immediately ordered Intestinal Movement Formula , and I was so much better after that. Intestinal Movement Formula is much more mild and gentle.

After just one capsule of IMF, I loved how gentle and natural it felt in my body. It was never harsh or painful, it just helped get things gently moving. I liked it so much I have continued to use it on an occasional basis after my juice feast! And it works great not matter if you are eating solid food or if you are juice feasting.

Seriously - This product really works - but not too much!

I'm not selling you with some crazy advertisement like those people in the 1940's. I am just letting you know that I really believe in this product and it has really helped me in the last six months.

Here's a great description from Health Force's website :

"A sluggish bowel breeds toxicity that can adversely affect the health of the entire body.
Regular bowel movements and a clean colon are the foundation for better health. This superior formulation (highly effective, yet gentle) was designed to produce maximum colon cleansing and proper movement with little or no discomfort. The supportive herbal components in this formula also support digestion, the immune system, blood sugar balance and reduction of harmful microbes."

And it comes in vegan caps! No gelatin caps here! Yay!

I hope this helps someone out there who has a crazy mommy that wants them to take Metamucil or conventional prunes. And if you want to share your own personal stories of tantrums, please do so. I know there are other people out there with dysfunctional childhoods.

Thank goodness for raw food.
