Update: I posted a few photos of Harshal and Neel cutting and eating the cake we got from Pure Food and Wine.
Say hello to my lovely older sister Harshal and her handsome fiance (also my best buddy) Neel. Today they are having their formal engagement party in New Jersey. And if you've never been to an Indian engagement or wedding, the easiest way to some up the dinner menu is 'We Like It Cooked'.
But the traditional Indian dinner filled with dairy and fried what-not doesn't work for Harshal and Neel. Over the last 4 years, both of them have continuously been improving their diets. Harshal eats more than half of her diet raw and Neel eats almost exclusively raw ( listen to his interview ). So with help from Pure Food and Wine we hooked a totally separate menu for the couple and the WLIR squad to enjoy. That goes from bubbly, appetizers, a main course and dessert.
The more I talk to readers, the more I'm noticing this sort of thing going on at festivities. A totally raw food menu may not totally work for all your guests (especially Indians), but at least you can make sure that you and your close friend are taken care of.
I'll make sure I post photos.
p.s. You better believe my wedding will be all raw!
