The psyllium husks act like a broom to sweep debris from your intestines while the bentonite clay draws out toxins (sort of like a facial clay mask but for your GI system). FYI a tablespoon of bentonite clay in apple juice will work wonders if you have a hangover. I like to have nothing else but herbal tea's when I'm doing this detox normally pukka's cleanse and detox as I feel they support the cleanse best. You can however enjoy some vegetable juices in between if you feel the need but you should obstain from all solid foods. I've done a lot of detox's over the years some of which you can read about on here I find this to be one of the best. For one reason the clay mix in the drink really help to take the edge of any hunger you might have and you can really see results from the first day. It's a very very thorough cleaning out.
The blessed herbs kit also has a jar of Digestive pills; they call them Digestive stimulators and thats totally what they do they help to move everything along.
The First Day
The first day on this cleanse is always pretty hard for me, it's not really not eating any food it's the fact I can't have my milky chai tea latte frist thing in the morning. Most people find the first two days the hardest on just liquids but it's worth it. So just keep pushing passed the hungry pains. Hot water with a sample teaspoon of honey will help to make you feel a bit more full. The key is to drink plenty of liquids so your stomach feels full. I never take any other juices on this detox as it can spike your blood sugar and level you feel even more drained, so I think it's best if your adding extra juices to make sure they are made up of green vegetables. The juice I use is pip organic apple and cherry when doing the detox I always think its best to stick to organic juices, if you don't what to buy organic apple juice you can always juice it your self I just find it to much of a pain to keep cleaning the juicer.
Is blessed Herbs as good as Colonic? I really don't think it is, colonics are amazing but I think unless your eating a very simple raw diet and getting two to three a week for a few weeks, one colonic is not going to have the effect that blessed herbs has. The plus of doing blessed herbs over say a one off or even two colonics is that you are also fasting, fasting lets your body rest from digesting food, so it can start repairing tissue and removing toxins from your organs. I will say this now blessed herbs is not a weigh loss cleanse, it's process is to detox you'll shift a few pounds and more than likey your stomach would be much flatter, which is also a wee plus.
The Next Few days
Day three is much much easier, so much easier you stop feeling hungry, by the time your getting through all the toxin absorbers and have a few cups of herbal tea, you really not thinking about food. If you try blessed herbs and feel you are wee bit hungry towards the name of day, my mum always suggests to clinets that they have a small bowl of Potassium broth
This is a GREAT tasting addition to your Cleansing Program. It will FLUSH your Body of TOXINS, Poisons and UNWANTED Salts and Acids, while giving you a CONCENTRATED amount of Vitamins and Minerals.
1. Fill a LARGE pot with 25% Potato peelings, 25% Carrot peelings and WHOLE chopped Beets, 25% chopped Onions, including 50 cloves of Garlic, 25% Celery and DARK Greens
2. Add HOT Peppers to taste.
3. Add enough Distilled Water to cover the Vegetables and simmer on very LOW temperature for 1-2 hours.
4. Strain, or just dip your mug in, and drink ONLY the Broth.
It is IMPORTANT, that you use ORGANIC Vegetables, because you do NOT want to consume ANY Toxic Insecticides, Pesticides or Inorganic Chemical Fertilizers, while you're doing a Cleansing and Detoxification Program!
If you really don't feel like making this but are still totally hungry when doing this fast you could try miso soup, you can either make it your self using fresh miso pastes or clearsping do organic instant packets which are pretty good quailty.
What I've noticed on the detox is that my skin has gonna for a better word to shit in places, it's my body detoxing not just my colon which is great, but I've got some really bad spots and in places I'm getting what appears to be little bits of eczeem which is really surprise to me, as I haven't had eczeem since I was about ten but my energy by day four has gonna through the roof, which means that rest my digestive system is having is really paying off.
After 5 days I feel like I've totally accomplised something. I can't do the cleanse for any longer as I'm moving house today and i get the feeling I may want a beer when the whole thing is done not the best way to finish a cleanse but needs must. I hope this post helps anyone looking at doing a cleanse like blessed herbs. Even if you only manage a few days those few days are a great break for your digestive system.
