(90-Day Detox) Day 21: Let’s Do Our Commitments a Day Early

Posted Mar 09 2009 4:28pm

Good afternoon, my dear.

I hope your day has been marvelous so far!

Last night I was at a birthday party and they served up a traditional french dish called “Cassoulet”. Check out a sample recipe of what goes into this thing:

  1. 2 fresh ham hocks
  2. 1 pound boneless pork shoulder, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
  3. 6 ounces fresh pork skin with 1/4 inch of fat attached
  4. Salt and freshly ground pepper
  5. 2 pounds dried Tarbais or cannellini beans, picked over and rinsed
  6. 2 ounces salt pork, skin removed
  7. 1/3 cup duck fat (see Note)
  8. 3 small carrots, thinly sliced
  9. 2 medium onions, diced
  10. One 5-ounce piece of pancetta
  11. One 5-ounce piece of prosciutto
  12. 1 head of garlic, unpeeled, plus 4 small garlic cloves, peeled
  13. 1 large plum tomato, chopped
  14. 2 quarts plus 2 cups chicken broth
  15. Bouquet garni: 4 parsley sprigs, 3 small celery ribs, 2 thyme sprigs and 1 bay leaf, tied with string
  16. 6 duck confit legs (see Note)
  17. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  18. 1 pound French-style fresh pork sausages, such as saucisses de Toulouse, pricked with a fork
  19. 1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs

Now doesn’t that get the old salivary glands pumping?! Yikes! That’s soooome recipe. Anyway, I won’t critique its nutritional fortitude, but I will say that my Ridiculously Good Ranch Dressing on a Broccoli Salad along with a Pear, Blueberry and Arugula Salad with Orange Vinaigrette didn’t leave me feeling like I had a 10 pound brick in my gut.

Nor did my “Chocolate Truffles”!

Yep! I’ll give you all the recipes for these, if you’re going to be playing along this week on the blog with us. You’ll have to make a commitment like we have been doing for the last 2 weeks in a row. Technically we do it on Monday, but I think Sunday night before the week starts would be even better.

Mine was to go to yoga this week. I did it 3 times. That’s FANTASTIC! Since that’s 3 times in almost as many years! This week, my commitment is going to be…

…drinking a glorious green juice EVERY DAY!!

So, if you post the commitment you’re going to keep for yourself this week and let us know how you’re doing or how you did last week, then I’ll share my SCRUMPTIOUS recipes from last night. Mmmmm…

Such a tease!

I’ve been working on a juicy article for you, but I just checked the time and now I have to bolt to my yoga class.

Then I’m coming back for our 90-day detox support call aaaaaand then my cozy coaching group call!

I’m totally pumped about this week and looking forward to digging my teeth into some cold, hard facts about gluten. Also, I have some really exciting teleseminars coming up and there’s one other thing we’ll be discussing a lot soon and it’s something no one like to talk about, but EVERYONE wants to know about, but I’m finally going to get some people to put it all out there and say it like it is about…

Yeah, that’s right. You heard me. I’m a mother of two and used to have my own day care, so forgive me for saying it like it is. “Stool” or “feces” just didn’t cut it for me this afternoon. How much is enough? How often? Should it float or sink? What about colonics? enemas? odors? consistency? What should we worry about, what should we just “let go” about?

As we start to step up the notch on detox, this becomes a very important thing to discuss. So, we’ve got a special guest who knows a lot about this particular topic who will be coming to pay us a visit and I will ask all the dreadfully uncomfortable questions that no one else wants to ask. :-P

The sun was shining so much today and the snow is melting! Layers of winter are peeling off and GOOD GLORY, Woman, SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!!!

I’m off to stretch and sweat and will be thinking of you!

Love and hugs,

Today’s Success Story:

I’m waaaaaiting…

I’ll probably be back later tonight with more juicy things to say. *smooch*
