Your spouse or partner may not want to kiss you, but you’ll be feeling great!
Garlic contains a unique sulfur compound known as allicin, which assists in antioxidant activity and is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral agent. Garlic is heart healthy: It lowers blood pressure and decreases platelet aggregation, serum triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and increases HDL cholesterol. It is also well known for its anti-inflammatory response and often recommended in holistic treatment of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis.
With so many health benefits packed into this little gem, you’ll really want to get your partner on board so you can both reek of garlic and its nutritive powers!
One of the best ways to make sure you reap the greatest benefits from the alliinase enzymes in the garlic is to consume fresh raw garlic, chopped finely, and allowed to sit for a bit before using it in a recipe.
Also, to make sure you are getting enough of the power packed goody, be sure to consume about ½ to 1 clove per day personally.
Here are some yummy ways to add garlic to your daily diet:
Blend all ingredients in VitaMix, using coconut water as needed, until creamy.
Serve over your favorite salad.
1 cup raw apple cider vinegar
2 cups olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Minced garlic (1-3 cloves or more if you’d like!)
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon basil
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard (optional)
Mix together well and pour over your favorite salad.
There are many other ways to make sure you consume your garlic. Some folks just chew it up and swallow it down. Others mince it and mix with a little honey. Other will just toss it into a smoothie. The salad dressing route is the preferred method in our house. It’s also great to mince up a little in any dish or sauce that could use a little kick, such as guacamole!
Enjoy your garlic!
