12-Day Countdown to 2012 – Day 6: Set Your Intentions for Attitude and Outlook on Life

Posted Dec 26 2011 12:36pm
Written by Tera on December 26, 2011 – -

- by Tera Warner

When you look out at life, what do you see?

Is it comforting and supportive, or is it dark, fearful and intimidating?

Sitting from your chair, looking through your eyes, how does the world look to you?

See the light no matter how dark it gets.I’m very excited about this year’s WISH Summit presenters on attitude. We have an incredible team of people who really KICK BUTT when it comes to confidence, determination, and the ability to see the light no matter how dark it gets.

There’s no question that the way we perceive life and our attitude towards it and others will have an enormous impact on the degree of pleasure we experience — and even on our overall health and well-being. It doesn’t matter how healthy and fit a grumpy, stressed out and frazzled woman is, she will still appear very ugly and unattractive to the people around her.

Reflection of Attitude and OutlookHow do you feel about your body? your diet? your friends and relationships? YOU?

When you catch yourself speaking, are you passing along good news, drama, or bad news? If you pass on bad news, do you dress it up a bit to make it more dramatic?

Take a moment to reflect on your general attitude and outlook on life — not just for your own sake, but also the impact that has on the people around you.

Now, set your intentions.

What good vibrations and positive particles can you send out to the world in 2012?

Write your intentions below and let me know just how good you can make it!

Love and Positivity,

Tera

When working, I will sometimes have the news on the radio in the background. Even though I am half listening, the news becomes constantly negative over time and I become stressed! As soon as I switch the radio to fun music, I become much more relaxed, happy, and energetic/up-beat! I grew up always happy and I feel as though I am a happy adult. I do not let anything get me down! Not for long! One key factor is that I am patient with myself. (Rome was not built in a day!) …I also think this 12-Day Countdown is good in that it makes me think of goals in different areas — areas that need to be either changed or tweaked! I think personally setting these “2012 INTENTIONS” helps to give me a positive outlook for the future this year and something to work on — something important to strive for!

I began homeschooling 7 years ago and was thankful that my husband was willing to let me give it a go. We have seen many truly amazing things happen in our three daughters’ lives as a result. I’m so grateful that we made that decision. What I imagined and hoped for was a smidgen of what was to come. What’s wild to me is that I believed in taking that step as a family, even though there were so many people who questioned what we were doing and thought it was not the best for our kids.
As a result, my intentions for attitude are
Have the attitude that anything can be accomplished. Don’t listen to others who speak from fear and a narrow mindset.
Have the outlook that it (whatever I’m going after) is going to be even better than I can imagine!

I will condition myself to come from an attitude of gratitude and abundance. Just breathe with that, as simple as it may sound, it is nothing less than monumental, quantum leap, life changing. I will let it infuse all parts of my life, the way I see my progress, the way I see my body, the way I see my relationships. I do do it in some areas, like the weather :) I (almost) always embrace the weather whatever it may be. Along with that I will be kind, gentle and forgiving towards myself, as opposed to judgemental, hard and unforgiving, which I am way too often and it is most certainly my downfall. Getting back up smoothly, quickly and with ease will be my greatest gift to myself.

I will see the silver lining and help others do the same. I will radiate my light in this world, and through that inspire others to do the same.

Absolutely true – I’ve experienced that very often. When I feel unwell in the morning after I woke up, maybe a little bit tired, maybe a little bit angry or sad seeing dark outside, my hubby and kids still in bed dreaming and me having to get up, go out to work and take my train thinking that it will surely be late, it will be cold outside, I’ll fall ill…..etc, etc, I will spend a grey day – I’ll be wearing dark colours, I’ll be eating shabby (=junk) food and I’ll be stressed and annoyed the whole day. But, when I wake up, even feeling a little bit tired and cold, and I say to myself how grateful I am to have a nice job and a faithful hubby and great kids who can sleep in our cosy house and when in front of the mirror in the bathroom, I send myself a kiss, my day will be full of colours no matter how much it rains or snows outside! I’ll be wearing a flower-power dress, I’ll be eating rainbow food full of vitamins and I’ll be so effective at work. So my intention for 2012 is to send me a kiss every single morning and express my gratitude for what I am!

I have days where everything is beautiful and filled with hope, and others when I couldn’t sink any lower. I want to practice taking control of my attitude, and let the negative people around me fade into the background. It is not my job to justify my life or try and make them understand, but it is my right to be happy. I need to accept that and live it! I hope to do so by surrounding myself with like-minded people and more positive experiences. I’ve found that exercise makes a huge difference in my ability to see things more positively no matter how my day goes.

I’m a firm believer that your mind creates the world around you. Of course, I perhaps believe this mostly intellectually as there are times when I let myself get down and though I know I just have to change the way I look at things, it’s easier to just feel bad and blame the universe and not take any responsibility. I set the intention for this coming year to try to fully realize this Truth. I will say, though, that I am positive in interacting with other people, whether family, friends, coworkers (and the students I encounter in my job), and strangers. I always have a smile and a positive thing to say. I set the intention to continue smiling and spreading joy in the world and to transform the times I’m not my best into positive moments!

    Atitude & Outlook
I intend to focus on the outcome I want in every situation. I intend to view each thing that happens as a part of the puzzle that is bringing me to the outcome I want. I intend to really listen to my intuition because as evidenced in the past couple of days, it knows what it’s talking about !!

I will remember that everything is ok today. I will not stress about the things I can’t change. If I have nothing nice to say, I won’t say anything at all.

I will be inspired by my dreams and keep a positive outlook when things get rocky.
