12-Day Countdown to 2012 – Day 2: Set Your Intentions for Fitness

Posted Dec 30 2011 10:00am

- by Tera Warner

One of the most fabulous things I learned about fitness this year came from Alice Bracegirdle, a dear friend and the founder of BellyFit. She will be presenting at next year’s WISH Summit talking about the importance of getting out of the box of conventional fitness programs, and moving into your softness!

EMBRACE YOUR JIGGLE!

You don’t need to sign up for a gym membership, lift weights or even do yoga. You can just wake up, turn on the music, then wriggle, jiggle, and let yourself go! Alice is a big part of our Body Enlightenment program and you can get to meet her here and get a taste of what she’s all about!

Sometimes we think of fitness as our calorie-burning obligation to a healthy living routine. What I have been learning from Teresa Tapp is that you can use your fitness routine to actually boost your health, improve elimination and speed up recovery from illness, etc.

Teresa didn’t develop her T-Tapp routines as a way of shaving inches off thighs or helping women burn more calories. She created them out of a deep interest in human health and well-being, and with the desire to see conditions like cancer, improve dramatically.

The series and sequences of movements in T-Tapp have been designed to activate circulation of the lymphatic fluids and ACTIVELY contribute to the elimination of toxins from the body.

Both fitness heroines have taught me a lot this year, and they’ll both be presenting as part of next year’s WISH Summit, so I know you’re going to love what they have to share.

I’m totally interested in taking things further in 2012. I want to dance more, learn more about what’s going on in my body and how my fitness can positively affect my overall health and well-being.

Getting In Communication and In Synch with Your BodyIt’s not just about jogging and muscle tone and calorie-burning, but about getting in better communication with my body, and understanding what’s going on in there.

We can spot pimples and see new moles grow, but because we can’t see what’s going on under our skin, we’re often disconnected from what’s going on inside!

Exercises like T-Tapp and Bellyfit really help to get you moving and understand what’s going on in your organs and circulation, to increase your overall health, confidence and well-being.

Set your intentions for fitness in 2012!

Write your comments below and let me know how you’re going to pump lymph instead of iron, and make yourself a fitness vixen in the new year!

Fitness and Jiggles,

Tera

At the moment I have an evening yoga practice which I aim to switch to the afternoon and ideally make longer.
I fully intend to continue doing the school run on our cycles. In fact I’m looking forward to more cycling through nearby forests, countryside and coastal paths now my kids are both off their stabilisers.

The same for 7 years now with an occasional increase in weights, and alternating aerobic routines, I’m bored with it. I recently tried kundalini yoga and want to learn more. I want to try T-Tapp that is included in the 21-day Green Smoothie Challenge. I want to walk, hike, ride my bike. I want to feel functional in my body – strong enough for the every tasks – and at ease for hiking and biking here in mountains where in live at 5,000 feet.

My husband and I have had a gym membership for over a year now and though that first year, I was going at least three times a week, I let “life” get in the way and come up with other things I “need” to do instead of going to the gym. I worked on what I put into my body at the end of this past year and lost more weight than I did with just adding regular gym visits. This year, I intend to combine both. I will go to the gym and encourage my husband to join me. We also both recently acquired kettle bells and I found a great kettle bell program (just doing the 20 minute “how to” session made my legs sore for two days – just imagine if I was doing the actual workout on a regular basis!!). It’s silly, though – I have two dogs who need to be walked and we have a beautiful lake right near our house. I need to break myself of the habits that keep me from getting out and just walking and enjoying the world around me. Tonight, I will be dancing in the new year with one of my favorite bands and will try to keep that energy moving me throughout the year!!

I love to move my body. When the weather is nice a walk in nature. I also like to exercise with my friend so we can visit and sweat at the same time. I intend to exercise everyday, alternating strength training and cardio, or total body workouts. I have several DVDs that I enjoy and will continue to use this winter to keep me interested and motivated.

I know that by focusing on the other eleven topics, my health will improve. That said, I have had health issues for the last twelve years, and this past year my body has been screaming at me to “Pay Attention”. I’ve been very ill and have lingering issues that no physician seems able to get to the bottom of. I know in my heart that I have done everything I could to avoid doing what I know I must do…the other eleven steps. I seem to have spent almost my entire life afraid. It’s time for me to step forward and claim my Self. I must care for my physical form in order to be able to be all that I can become.

I want to thank Tera for this wonderful goals exercise. It has really allowed me to mull over my goals and put my money where my mouth is…literally. This is a real challenge for me at this time, but I’m doing it because I know it will start me off on the right track. Thank you and Happy New Year to all.

This one intention I already started :)
I build myself a Hula Hoop and enjoy this lovely belly dancing everyday!!! But let’s face it, I should (and will!) be doing so much more in the fitness area. So, I intend to walk every time I can instead of riding the bus and I will join online yoga class so I don’t have any excuses not to go ;)

I’ve just learned about wiggling my jiggle this year with Belly Fit, and I think it’s fantastic! I’ve done T-Tapp in the past and think it is a rewarding program. I will continue with my Belly Fit regime and will incorporate in T-Tapp as well. I like variety :) I will also, join a walking club at work!

Lately I’m so tired from the short days (think I have mild seasonal anxiety), that I haven’t felt like getting up early enough in the morning before work to do it. Hopefully I can get into a regular routine again in the new year.

But I can dance, and I can walk outdoors or on the mini-tramp, so I’ll start there for at least 15 minutes a day.
