WHO urges worldwide ban of smoking at work, in public

The World Health Organization has issued its strongest indictment yet of smoking, urging all countries to ban it in the work place and public buildings. "The evidence is clear. There is no safe level of exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke," said Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organization. Tobacco accounts for one out of 10 adult deaths, some 5.4 million people a year, the agency said in this Associated Press article picked up by the San Francisco Chronicle.
