Ectopic pregnancy is a type of pregnancy complication. When pregnancy implantation is not in the cavity of uterus- the usual site of pregnancy- it is termed as ectopic pregnancy. Generally, the fertilized egg gets implanted in the fallopian tube. That is why, the condition is also known as tubal pregnancy. However, pregnancy implantation can also occur in the cervix, ovaries, and abdomen. This is a very serious medical condition that calls for emergency treatment. If left unattended, there is always a risk of losing the life of the pregnant woman having ectopic pregnancy. However, the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are not very easy to notice.
