What is a "normal" quantitative hCG level for someone who is 5.5 weeks pregnant?

it depends on when implantation happened.  The number is good but it is the doubling time of that number that is more idicative of a viable pregnancy. Most women will not have any problems so they only need the one beta draw to confirm, while others (who have had trouble conceiving or have suffered multiple miscarriages) will do a progressive beta to check that doubling time.
