Mirror News - Tests to detect Down's Syndrome are damaging too many unborn babies
I have never gotten a CVS or amnio done. I've wanted to, but just couldn't do it. After having a bunch of miscarriages, I couldn't risk having a test done that could cause a miscarriage in a healthy pregnancy. Of course, I might have changed my tune if the quad screen ever came back bad with any of my pregnancies. Hopefully, I'll never have to know. Yet another reason why I hope to be done with pregnancy before I'm 35. Doctors around here pretty much require you to at least get an amnio at such an "advanced" age.
According to the article, for every 600-700 babies that are found to have Down's Syndrome with these tests, another 400 completely healthy babies are miscarried.
