it depends on when in your cycle you took the test. If it was already passed your missed period then the test will be accurate no matter if you take it in the morning or the evening.
It also depends on where you were in your cycle when you had unprotected intercourse.
If you had a period and a negative test then I would say that the test is accurate unless you provide me with information that may change my opinion

I think I might be pregnant, because my last period was much shorter and lighter than usual and this period is about 7 days late with no signs of showing up (i usually get pretty irritable/pimply about a week before), which is unusual as well. I have been urinating a bit more than usual, even nearly having an "accident". But I'm not sure if i'm having any other symptoms. It's been about 6 weeks since I had unprotected sex and I have taken a hpt but it was negative, though that was before I knew that you should take them in the morning. I took it at night. Could I be pregnant? I've never been around women in this stage of pregnancy nor have I been pregnant myself so I really would love some actually helpful advice/guidance.
