I'm a pregnancy test-aholic. The undeniable urge to test has hit me once again as I sit here at day 25 of this cycle. I could go buy a test. If I am pregnant, I could in theory test positive this early. But I won't, because even though I know it may be too early, that won't help much when the overwhelming feeling of disappointment strikes if I test negative.
Pregnancy tests are a funny thing, no two are the same. You have cassette types, strip types and stick types. You have digital ones, plus or minus sign ones, and one or two lines ones. Then the biggest difference they never tell you about . . . ones that test at as low as 15 hCG and ones that test at as high as 100 hCG. Here's some info from a site I found and a link to there page.
Q: What should my hCG level be? A: An rounded-off average would be about 25 mIU at 10 dpo, 50 at 12 dpo, 100 at 14 dpo.
15 mIU - First Response Early Result
25 mIU - CVS brand, Walmart brand
40 mIU - e.p.t.
50 mIU - Clear Blue Easy Digital, Eckerd brand, Rite Aid brand, Target brand, Walgreens brand
Another pregnancy test site I am a big fan of is Early Pregnancy Tests.com. They offer huge discounts on pregnancy tests bought in bulk delivered right to your door. As low as 50 cents a test and free shipping on all orders over 14.95 in the US. And the absolute best part -- they test at 20 mUI. A must for a test-aholic like myself.
I, of course, am out of pregnancy tests, or I would be testing today. I may run over to the dollar store later on but I have yet to find out what the levels are that my local dollar store brand tests at, as it does not say on the box. Oh well, wish me luck!
