Possibly pregnenant? Lumps under nipple/areola? Help!

I recently became kinda sick with mild flu sort of like symptoms (elevated temp, nausea,etc) and had soreness down near my overies. my doctor asked if i was pregenant and though i'm on birth control i had missed a few days on my start date, took double pills and left it at that.
he did not perform a preg test but asked me to wait until/if i missed a period. today is my "start" date and usually i've been spotting for a week or so now and no blood. last night the usual soreness in my breasts from my period coming is not there, just mild. so i was massaging and noticed under my nipple (under the areola actually) there were little like.... lumps/nodules. milk ducts?
any advice?
