Plans have changed - My Grandfather

Posted Mar 20 2009 3:38pm
I was going to post something about how I had to wedge the Demon Baby into her St. Patrick's Day outfit since she outgrew it before the holiday. It was going to be a whole big thing about my obsession over having to have pictures of the kids in holiday attire for every holiday I can find it for. Plans have changed.

I haven't mentioned my grandfather in a while. He's still in the hospital. Since Thanksgiving. He's breathing with a machine through a tracheotomy and is eating through a feeding tube. He can't talk, can't eat and can't walk. He's not getting any better. The doctor's said that less than 1% of people his age (82) get any better than he is right now. He also hasn't had any treatments for his prostate cancer since November. So even if he got better, his prostate is still killing him rather quickly. He, along with my family, has decided to turn off the machine that are keeping him alive.

I'll be taking the two younger children to see him this weekend. He's never even met the youngest one. They are going to turn the machines off Monday or Tuesday, I'm not sure which. He isn't expected to last the day. We haven't decided whether or not to take the Hellion to see him like that.

I don't know what else to write right now.
