Having a twin sister means you learn from a very young age that EVERYTHING is for sharing. It starts with mommy's uterus and that's only the beginning of a life-time of sharing :) As much as Amaya and Liana have learned to share (and are generally pretty good at it) - some things are just not for sharing. Like germs, maybe ;)! You see where this is going .... because yes, just as we thought we managed to get by with Liana being the only one in our family to get sick, Amaya is now under the weather :( Boo! So far, it's just a really bad head cold (no fever! fingers crossed!), but the poor thing is just miserable and hasn't been sleeping. Which means the rest of us are pretty miserable because we haven't been sleeping!
As a matter of fact, the following picture was taking before 7am this morning ... after tossing and turning with one or two beans in my bed for a while (and no hope of going back to sleep!), I declared it was going to be family reading time because I just wasn't ready to get out of bed and face the day. It was fun while it lasted, but pretty soon Liana (right) was urging me to put my "mommy book" down and read one her books to her instead.
Bjorn is working today, but thankfully it is one of the very rare days when I don't have to go to work or otherwise leave the house ... so I'm thinking we might just stay in our PJs and hang low! I am also reminded that despite the recent illness, this flu season has been pretty kind to us - for which I'm very thankful. I'm working on the girls' 2nd blog book, and was just re-reading posts from December two years ago when Amaya was so sick between her surgery, hospitalizations and recurring high fevers that we literally didn't sleep more than 4 hours a night for weeks and I honestly thought I might lose my mind. So yes, right now I feel like I'm going to be very tired for rest of the day after a rough night, but back then I felt like I was going to be tired for the rest of my life ;)! Progress, people!
