I always add a bunch of new shows to my TiVo every fall. By the time spring rolls around, half have been canceled, a quarter turn out to be utter crap and I'm left with 2 or 3 shows that are really fantastic. I wonder which ones will make it this year.
The Vampire Diaries
I read the first book in the series this show is based on. I have no memory of whether I liked it or not. Not a stunning recommendation. But, look, Ian Somerhalder. Yum. Plus, it takes an awful lot for me not to like a show with vampires. Yes, I mean you, Moonlight.
Joel McHale is funny. Mostly. And who doesn't love Chevy Chase? You have to love the man who brought you Clark Griswold. It would be unpatriotic if you didn't.
The Beautiful Life
I have no idea why I want to watch this. Mischa Barton annoys me. Some unknown force is compelling me. I'll either hate it immediately or become obsessed and annoy all of you on Twitter until you unfollow me. For my own good, of course.
We saw the previews for this at the movie theater. It looked really good. Ed O'Neil? Always funny. And Jesse Tyler Ferguson was awesome on Do Not Disturb and The Class. Hopefully this will his show that lasts more than one season.
I am counting on you, Courteney Cox, to make this show way more funny that The New Adventures of Old Christine. Cause seriously, that show makes me want to stab both my eyes and my eardrums. And Cougar Town's description reminds me of the aforementioned attrocity. I'm doing it for you Courteney Cox, so help a girl out.
I loved the Witches of Eastwick. And Paul Gross? Way more appealing, to me at least, than Jack Nicholson. Rebecca Romijn is always good. I've recently come to love Jamie Ray Newman from her stint on Eureka. And, well, Lindsay Price, I haven't really payed attention to since 90210. The original 90210. Not the new one I had to shut off and pretend never happened.
The previews for this looked interesting and the Husband demanded it get placed on the TiVo. John Cho and Dominic Monaghan are always good choices, so I made no protest. While I really like Post-Apocalyptic plot lines, this one leaves me a little wary with the who seeing the future angle.
I've never seen any of the previous incarnations of V. I actually hadn't really even heard of them (bad sci-fi viewer, bad). I miss Joel Gretsch from the 4400, am concerned about Morena Baccarin's hair, and don't like the look of Scott Wolf in the above picture. He looks a little off.
What new shows are you watching? What do you think the first show to get canceled this season will be?
