Money Plans and Baby Plans

Posted Sep 22 2008 11:05am
Somehow, we've managed to figure out how to get out of "mind-numbing, how could we possibly owe this much" by the end of 2008. By early 2009 we should not be debt free, but rather in debt consistent with others of our age and income range. I've come to the conclusion that no one is ever debt free in this country, except for perhaps the rich by birth, and even then it's not always the case.

Even while paying off the mind-numbing debt there is going to be a rather decent surplus of cash. Enough for us to buy the things we've needed, yet had to put off. Enough for us to have a savings account for a down payment on a house that will actually last long enough to accrue interest. Enough for us to start planning on another shot a pregnancy.

We'll be waiting at least another two months to make sure the money is where it's supposed to be, to get the fertility drugs from both my doctor and overseas and for me to lose a bit more weight so the drugs have maximum effectiveness. But, we have a plan. A plan that doesn't end in "we'll figure something out."

To help the plan along, I hope to find a job. Of course, I have no idea what I'm qualified to do as I've been a stay-at-home-mom for 8 years and was in college before that. I have 95% of a 4 year degree in Business Administration. That last 5% won't be completed in the foreseeable future. I need to work nights and/or weekends to accommodate the husbands work schedule as day care seems like a waste for the amount of money I'll be able to make and both my parents and my in-laws still work. I'd love to work at home, but so far everything I've managed to find seems like a scam. So, if you have any suggestions, please share.
