Is it NHS policy to record the gender of the baby regardless?

Posted by Rick

We have just had the 20 week scan for our third child.  We did not ask to be informed of the sex of the baby but on leaving the Ultrasound room I noticed the words "female" written across the TV screen that we were being shown the UItrasound on.  Is it NHS policy to record the gender of the baby regardless?

I am under the impression that it is helpful for the OB to know what the sex of the child is...if you need to have other scans done then the growth of the baby can be followed including the genitals...just a thought...
