if acrania is genetic does that mean it have come from one of the parents or does it mean the parents jeans aren't compatable?

im sorry im new to this site so i dont quite understand how to ask a question but im giving it my best shot. if someone was to found out their baby has acrania and are told that it is genetic does that mean it has been passed on through one of the parents or does it mean both the parents arent compatible to have children with each other?
