I have heard so many stories like the one published recently in the Chicago Tribune, Woman accusesdoctor of making painful labor worse, and yet I am amazed at how many people believe that stuff like this is not common. I've been accused of exaggeration and of not liking doctors but the truth is that for every story printed in the press, there are hundred other untold stories that are just as disempowering to women. The doctor in this story actually told his client to ""Shut up, close your mouth and push." Kudos to the Chicago Tribune for publishing this story. I would love to see a lot more of these stories out there. Perhaps they will encourage moms to be more wary of their care providers during pregnancy. Remember fabulous gynecologist does not equal fabulous obstetrician.
So I was sent the link to the above article from a new friend and fellow VBAC activist who recently moved to the area and SHE was sent this link by Karen Brody who of course had to blog about this shocking piece as well.
