I'm late for my period and have really bad menstral cramps but all HPT's come out negative.

I had unprotected sex on the 24th of August, I was supposed to start my period on the 4th of September. I'm late for my periold and I get really bad cramps everyday and I'm starting to get nausea. I've taken 3 HPT's but they've all come out negative. Could I be pregnant even if the tests are negative? What else could be wrong?
