So Addie is sick - again. She literally didn't even get over the last cold before this current one descended on her poor immature immune system. I am finally healthy, and can talk again, and am hoping I don't catch this cold. I feel like all I talk about these days is how daycare is making Addie sick...and how much snot is coming out of her nose...and how having a sick kid adds to the frustrations of the busy week...not to mention how sad I am for her and her poor little nose. How boring, this broken record I'm spouting.
In happy Addie news, she's learning lots of new stuff at daycare. I have to say that despite the vicious kiddie germs, daycare is giving Addie structure she certainly wouldn't be getting at home. And I think that's a good thing. They're very organized at daycare, and have tons of fun activities planned out daily for the kids. They go for walks to the park every day, and sometimes they take trips to the local farmer's market, down to the waterfront to feed the ducks, and even to the local grocery store to do some group shopping. They do art every day - I get to see Addie's "creations" on the walls outside the daycare room and I'm always smiling at her creative marker and paint strokes. I think she's very talented, already at 13 months : ) They do circle time, reading books and singing songs, and somehow they get her to nap for at least an hour in a room with five other kids. Amazing.
I feel like I don't have a ton to say about what she's up to because the ongoing sickness is sapping some of her happy energy, but one thing she's LOVING right now is organizing and sorting our laundry. She'll easily spend 15 minutes pulling all her clothes out of her hamper, and then putting them back in. Over and over again. Or unloading my laundry hamper full of clean, folded clothes and dragging them around the room. It's pretty cute, so I don't mind refolding the laundry now and again.
She's become WAY more picky about food. I think it's an age thing and have heard a lot about how this strikes in the early toddler months. She refuses to take anything from me on a spoon that isn't a minigo yogurt or applesauce, and won't let me put pieces of food in her mouth anymore. She needs to do it all herself, and usually most of her food ends up being thrown on the floor angrily...until she tries a piece and then she's often happy to eat it. She's certainly not as daring as she used to be, when she would just open her mouth for pretty much anything I put near it. Probably a good survival mechanism...not accepting unknown food.
I'm sure there's more going on, but I'm out of energy. Time for tea and bed, and hopefully a quiet night. Here are a few pics from the past couple of weeks. Hope you're all doing well!
Daddy thought it would be funny to pull my pants up to my ears...hilarious.
Pretty girl in her popsicle dress.
I am NOT happy about this. But mommy sure is smiling big!
