1:00 p.m.: Get diagnostic call.  List of issues includes, but is not limited to transmission.  Cost to band-aid is more than the car is worth.  Cost to repair is unknown.

2:00 p.m.: Decide to just buy a new car.

6:00 p.m.:  Buy a new car.

Yikes!  It's a good thing I had already researched what type of car I wanted.  Still, a purchase that big was definitely not in the cards.  Oh well, just one more thing in my life that happened not according to the plan.
