How long does a bad reaction to a new birth control pill last?

I started taking a new kind about a week ago and about 5 days later, I started getting cramps, really bad gas.  On day 7, I got diarrhea, and that night, red bumps on my arms and body.  On day 8, I stopped taking the pill and the red bumps went away and the diarrhea improved but still persists.  It is now day 9.
