If you are having issues with your cycles then first things first I would request basic fertility testing. Since you are over 35 they usually would wait after you actively tried for six cycles, but since you have a history of issues then they should be willing to do this.  Have they diagnosed you with anything?
I have had all kinds of tests, for fibroids, tumors, cists, vaginal ultra sounds and th only thing that they found is tha i have very low iron. It should be like 11 or 12 but it's 6 so I take iron pills. I was pregnant in 1991 and had an abortion. Could my fertility have changed because of that? I have also been taking the pill regularly for about 18yrs. until i got married 2 yrs ago. I stopped and my period hs been out of wack every since so i started back to regulate it again. But it wont stay regular long enough for me to get pregnant. Will fertility shots/drugs regulate it or does it have to be regular before i start fertility.

the abortion has the potential to cause scarring- which would make it difficult to conceive depending on where that scar tissue is located.

I am not saying that is what the problem is, but it is a probablility.

Have you had an HSG since you stopped the pill?

what is an HSG. Wouldnt the scarring if any have showed up in a test when thry checked to see if my uterus was normal or during the vaginal ultrasound? Should i ask for an HSG?

WebMD has a great synopsis of what is an HSG is so here is the Link

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

I'm wondering the same and found this post. I have to stay on BC or I either won't have one for months at a time or bleed continuously. I'm 26 and have been on BC for 10 years and I am now married and trying to get pregnant. I go see a gynocologist tommorrow and I am insisting to be thoroughly checked out.
