Today I will be doing a review on Dr. Bronners. I first found about Dr. Bronners on Keep it Simple Sista. I at the time was desperate to find an affordable, natural and Sulfate free shampoo. As mentioned in a previous post. It is extremely dry here, and we have pretty hard water on top of that. So for me most of the shampoos, even the ones that were supposed to be really good and moisturizing were not doing it for me. I really really got tired of washing my hair, and then basically spending like a week having to put moisture in it, just to be due for another wash, which I was beginning to dread. So for a while I was just co-washing. But yet I could tell my hair needed a real wash to clear out the product residue. Tracyee at K.I.S.S did a review on the soap, and put a recipe together to make your own organic shampoo. You can find the review here and the actual making of the shampoo videohere.
For my mixture since I couldn't find a large bottle like Traycee, (and since I don't have as much hair, yet... I don't need one, but for you long hair women you will.) I used a 6oz. bottle from Sally's.
I Added 1 ounce of my favorite oils mix Then added 1 ounce of the Dr. Bronners Magic Soap Peppermint Shook it well. When u shake the two together it becomes creamy Then I filled up the rest of the bottle with the purified water Shook again
Adjust as wanted...
I personally love this, my hair is never over stripped, it's soft, and it feels clean but not that harsh squeaky clean. Even my husband uses the shampoo mix. He loves it and he usually doesn't even care to wash his hair, because he hates how it dry his hair gets. But he definitely has noticed the difference. Another reason I love it is because it is affordable, and helps me to save money. This will definitely last me a long time.
I also purchased the Lavender body wash with Shikakai and I love that as well. My skin feel so soft and clean after I get out of the shower. For me the peppermint that I use for my shampoo is too strong for my senses, and can't imagine using that on my whole body. So this is perfect, and I love the hint of grape smell. It smells wonderful. And it's also great for babies.
I do plan on purchasing and trying different things in the future. To see what is best for me. If I find other great things I will make sure to let you know.
