Seriously people. You might have the best product, and best warranties, and competive quotes... but nobody knows how to tell time!
Quote appointment was supposed to be at 1:30pm. At 12pm they left a message to see if they could come early. When I got home from work I called to say that early wouldn't work, and the guy said actually he was now running late and couldn't arrive until 2:20 or so. Which he did. And didn't leave until 3 hours later. That man could talk the hind leg off a donkey.
Duct work layout appointment was supposed to be at 1:30pm last Tuesday. By 2:30pm when they still hadn't shown up I called the company and they couldn't find the guy either. Multiple phone calls later I was told he would call me the next day. Which he did, just before 8am. (In my opinion, phone calls should not happen before 9am, or after 9pm unless it is someone you know very very well and are confident you aren't interupting, or it is urgent/an emergency). Anyhow, he said he called to re-arrange with us because he had a dentist appointment but he had dialed the wrong number. He would be at our house at 1:30pm that day (Wednesday). At 2:30pm he arrived.
A couple days later they called to say the furnace would be installed on Thursday and Friday of this week, and would be arriving between 8:30 and 9:00am. I said I had to be at work by 9am so they would need to be there at 8:30am. At 9am they still hadn't arrived (and I was now late for work) so I left my phone number on the unlokced door and went to work. At some point they arrived because when I got home at 1pm there was a new furnace in our basement. Smack in the middle of the basement floor. Which is not what we were expecting and looks strange but apparently is the best place for it??? After they left I went down to swap laundry and found a dirty old sawz-all on my laundry hamper. What in the world makes them think it is okay to store their power tools with my LAUNDRY?! Good grief. But wait... it gets better.
When they left yesterday I asked what time they would be arriving today. They said about 8:30am - "same as today". Oh, but he had to go pick up some stuff first so it would actually be after 9am. yeah. uh huh. At
7:40am, as I was walking to the bathroom in just my bathrobe, I looked up to see the furnace guy standing at my door. I ran to my room and threw my hair in a ponytail, and clothes on then answered the door. He says to me "Oh, you're home. Aren't you going to work?" "I have the option of working from home" was my rather dry reply. "Oh. well, I guess I'm a bit early. I'll just get started."
I finished making the bed and folding the laundry then threw stuff in a bag and came to my in-laws to get ready for the day. Which is where I am now. Working from their house because going to my office is too far away if the furnace people need me back at the house, and staying at the house while they work is just too stressful.
However, the weather is LOVELY for November - I was outside in bare feet today and the sun is shining. I will be thankful. :)
