Can late implantation cause a pregnancy test to be negative?

Posted by Very nervous

I had light brown spotting one time on day 28 of my cycle.  Took a pregnancy test on day 29 and it was negative.  My cycles can be anywhere from 25 to 31 days long, with the majority being around 27 days.  There wasn't even a faint second line on the test to at least indicate some level of the pregnancy hormone present.  My past two pregnancies showed positive results by day 29.  What are my chances of still being pregnant?  Should I be concerned about the fact that implantation occurred on the late side of my cycle as it may relate to an increased risk of miscarriage if I am indeed pregnant?  Will a pregnancy blood test today on day 29 provide me with a definite answer?
