Even though the girls aren't even in (pre-)school, I'm getting a taste of what it's like to keep up with your kids' busy schedules these days :) In all fairness, our busy schedule has just as much to do with me increasing my hours at the Y - but we also try to pack in lots of fun activities for the girls. Because: let's face it, they're no babies anymore and get booooored at home very quickly! For a while, they'd wake up in the morning and ask: "What we gonna do to'rrow?" (meaning: today), and I'm always happy when I have an answer that satisfies their need to adventure and excitement :)
On Monday mornings, we just started their ECFE class again, which the girls lovingly call "playschool" and absolutely adore! Just last night I told Liana that tomorrow was playschool day and she exclaimed "I love playschool!" :) We've done these classes for over a year now, and this is actually the last one they will attend before starting preschool in the fall. In the 2-year-old class, the kids spend about half the time with only the teachers while the parents have parent-discussions in another room and I love this kind of transition to preschool. The girls do really well with me being gone; we get stellar reports from the teachers every time.
I meant to bring my camera today and snap a few pictures for you, but of course I forgot. So these crappy cell phone pictures will have to do!
But here they are, walking the hall to their class room:

Tuesdays I teach a Kids Fitness class at the Y and the girls are just about old enough now to attend, which I am very excited about. So far, Liana has usually preferred just staying in the child care area and playing with all the toys, but Amaya has come to the gym with me a few times and it was a total riot every time. I'm really excited for when they turn 3 in May and can come on a regular basis.
The girls are also getting a little more exposure to the Y's child care now that I'm training for my triathlon and try to fit in a few extra workouts next to all the classes I teach. Thankfully, I don't have to bring the girls to child care too often while I teach - which is just a big hassle and usually at pretty inconvenient times for them. But now they go to Kids Stuff 2-3 times a week while I swim or run, and sometimes while I teach Kids Fitness. I'm really glad that they've finally warmed up to it and seemed to really enjoy it.
Saturday mornings, I am at the Y early to teach a class, and then Bjorn brings the girls for their swim lessons. I've been hoping to hold off on swim lessons until the girls are old enough to be in the pool by themselves - because getting 4 people changed and in and out of the pool just seemed like such a hassle every time (and it is!). But with all the bodies of open water we have here in Minnesota, we decided it was best to not wait any longer and to start teaching the girls some water safety. It is funny because up until this point Liana was the one who has shown absolutely no signs of fear around water - yet now, in swim class, she is a lot more cautious than her sister! It doesn't help that due to her ear tubes we've had to avoid getting her head under water for a long time. Now her tubes are out but she is absolutely afraid of getting her face too close to the water! So even though there's usually some drama involved with their swim lessons, the girls still absolutely love them and anxiously await Saturdays every week.
Sunday is church day and the girls are really loving Kids Church - and I love the fact that I get sit through part of the service and actually enjoy it :) And then it's Monday again and we get to do it all over!
