I watched the movie before reading the book. Big mistake. The movie followed the book very closely. While that's awesome for the movie, it kind of left the reading a little unfulfilling. I skimmed more than read. I hate that. The story was great and very entertaining. I just screwed myself. I gave this book 8 stars because it was very good but could have been a lot more detailed. (I already owned this book)

I love short stories by Agatha Christie. While I enjoy her full length books, she tended to be pretty loose with Poirot's Belgian language which is confusing to this ignorant American. It's French, right? The short stories give me all the mystery I crave without trying to decipher what phrases such as a bientot and depechez vous mean. I gave this book 7 stars because most of the stories were entertaining, but a few you could really tell the outcome a well before the story ended. (I already owned this book)

I really enjoy the Jane Jeffry novels by Jill Churchill. I haven't been able to read them in order. This is the first in the series and it was really nice to be able to see how some of the themes that are in every subsequent novel came to be. All of the books in this series are nice, easy, cozy mysteries but this one was a bit weaker than the rest. As a first novel, it was to be expected, but reading some of Churchill's later works first really made it all the more obvious. I gave this book 8 stars because it couldn't stand up against her newer novels. (I already owned this book)

While I liked this book, I wasn't in awe of it like I was with Jurassic Park. The original dinosaur concepts presented in the first book were continued and expanded upon. I felt as though this book was unnecessary, especially since half of the book explained many key points of the original in a effort to make this book capable of being a book that could stand on its own. I gave this book 6 stars for being longer than it needed to be considering the amount of wholly new material. (I already owned this book)

I really enjoyed the time travel aspects of this book. I did not enjoy the medieval time period that was traveled to. I am looking forward to renting the movie of this book from Netflix though because I always appreciate medieval settings better on film than on paper. I gave this book 6 stars because it's take on the multiverse was advanced for when the book was published. (I already owned this book)

I like the Temperance Brennan novels more when they are set in the south, than when they are set in Canada. I enjoy them less when the character travels to foreign lands. The religious tones in this book were a little more than my agnostic mind could manage. I gave this book 6 stars because I had to really struggle to remember the bible teachings of my youth to follow some of what was going on. (I already owned this book)

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

While I enjoyed this book, I found I was annoyed with the main character pretty much constantly throughout it. It's really hard to explain without giving away the plot of the book, but I found myself trying to figure out some way to kick Bella in the head for being that girl. I gave the book 8 stars because I couldn't give a book with a main character that obnoxious any higher even if I absolutely loved the book. (I already owned this book)

In Search of Dracula: The History of Dracula and Vampires by Raymond T. McNally and Radu Florescu

A really disappointing read. I had assumed that the book would give a little bit of Vlad the Impaler's background and then focus on Vampire history. It was like reading a history text on Romania and it's battles with the Turks. Not at all what I was lead to believe it would be. I gave this book 3 stars because it did give some limited vampire information once we got past the chapters and subchapters of the real Dracula.
