A few weeks ago I mentioned to Bjorn that ever since getting pregnant and subsequently becoming a mom, my birthdays have been a little ... anti-climactic, shall we say :) I began my thirties on bedrest, after all; a year later I had two 10-month olds and was getting ready to move into our new house; etc... Well, my remark must have struck a cord with my lovely husband, because earlier this week, I received an "itinerary" from him with all the fun things he had planned for me on my birthday weekend. And fun is exactly what I had!
It helped that my birthday fell on a Friday this year, the only day in the week when we're both off work.
On my actual birthday, I got to enjoy a massage (aaaah!)and then have lunch with Bjorn's family. In the evening, Bjorn took me out for dinner and helped me pick out new cycling shoes (exciting, I know!). On Saturday, I went shopping with Bjorn's mom and that night, we all got dressed up and attended a big fundraising gala event for my father-in-law's work (which had nothing to do with my birthday, of course, but was still lots of fun.) Today I invited a few of my girlfriends over for German "coffee and cake." We're all busy moms(-to-be) and hardly ever see each other without our kids in tow or running from one place to the next, so just to sit with a cup of coffee and catch up on life was the perfect "birthday party" for me :)
The girls were absolutely adorable, of course, singing and saying "Happy Birthday" all weekend long :)
