People want a birthday list for Jocelyn. It's harder than it seems. With Kaylee, it was easy. She was new. The first child, the first grandchild, the first great-grandchild. She had nothing. There were no hand-me-downs. She needed everything.
Jocelyn is much more difficult. She has everything. She has all of the things that survived Kaylee. She's the first grandchild and great-grandchild for the husband's family so she's been given everything that didn't survive Kaylee.
So, while Jocelyn doesn't NEED anything, she's going to have to get something. For no other reason than to have something shiny and new. And, the major part, to have something to open. Gifts of money are wasted on children this young. Gift cards just go in my drawer. And I find them around Christmas. And am tempted to use them to buy the kids Christmas gifts, because they forgot about the gift cards anyway. And don't get me started on people making donations in her name. Not to sound super-materialistic, but she's 2 for Christ's sake. Do you really think she's going to comprehend that someone gave money to a charity in her name for her birthday? And to be honest, if I put that on her birthday list, people would think I was high. Our families, us included, aren't really the donation types. Shun us if you must, but we just about qualify to receive from these charities.
