my last normal menstral cycle was the 16th of june my normal cycle is around 31 days. my husband and i had unprotected sex on the 30th of june and i started to experiance spotting on the 16th of july which is uncommon for me because i am a very heavy bleeder. i have also been having breast pains cramping acheing, and darkening of the areolas. i am also gettin small bumps on them.... i have been very tired all the time and hungry. but i mostly toss and turn all night i just cant seem to stay asleep longer that 2 or 3 hours at a time. i have to go pee alot more these days as well. but if i were pregnant i would be 6 weeks right now and i took a pregnancy test @ the 6 week point and it was neg... is it more likely that i am experiancing hormonal imbalances or that it is just too early in my body for the pregnancy hormones to show up??

If you were pregnant then at 6 wks your hCG would be well above the detectable range so as far as that goes I would trust the results of the pregnancy test.

As for the reason.. there are many- which includes of course a hormonal imbalance.  It could also be  an annovulatory cycle (meaning there was no ovulation) which is normal to have about once a year.  You could have a delayed ovulation-- for some reason your body didn't due to stress related issues or any antibiotics taken.  Introducing something new into your diet (usually nutritional supplements or herbal things) could be a factor as well.
