A new kind of support group - need help!

Posted Oct 13 2009 10:04pm
I was talking with my friend Joe the other day and we got into the discussion of how there are no support groups for men and women who are trying to come out of the closet. At least not in our area. After our discussion ended we have decided to start one up. This support group will be for individuals of all ages. I'm hoping the support group will have those who have already been out of the closet for some time (to offer support/advice) and those who trying to come out of the closet.

This support group will be a forum at first (to protect identity) and then if there is a big enough following - I will start a local chapter.

The GLBT community needs something like this. There are too many GLBT teens/adults who are struggling with their identity because they fear they will lose their friends and family during the coming out process. So many of them hide in their closet. Some will eventually come out and some never will. There are teens who will commit suicide to avoid coming out to their family. This forum will be a safe place for them to come and tell their story. Those of us who have been out for a while will be there to help them along in the process. Maybe if I'm lucky I have will be able to get a psychologist to volunteer and help out with advice.

I have everything started for this group but I am missing one key ingredient... A name. I have racked my brain for a cleaver name and can't seem to come up with anything. So I'm reaching out to all of you. What do you think I should call this support group?
