Have you noticed the explosion of chewable and gummy vitamins lately? As much as I promote getting all of your vital nutrients from whole foods and superfoods, it’s important to remember that sometimes we don’t know what we are missing. Naturally derived vitamins provide a quick and easy way to fill in any gaps.

Vitamin and supplement companies all over the world are battling it out in the lab to create the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth creation for the nutrient devoid American public. Nature Made, the largest vitamin company on the planet, has lead the pack for the last 40 years in quality and science. I was recently invited to visit the Nature Made headquarters in Los Angeles to taste their latest line of vitamins, tour the facility, and learn directly from their leading experts. Below is my adventure recap and the inside scoop on VitaMelts, the latest chewable, tote anywhere, naturally derived vitamins by Nature Made.

Wednesday:
Fly to LA after teaching all day. Go to bed early. Must get beauty sleep.

Thursday:

8am Meet and greet fellow amazing health and fitness bloggers and kick off the day with a round table presentation plus Q&A discussion with Nature Made’s industry experts. We heard from Erin Gehan- VP of Marketing, John Welk- Director of Insights, Louis Ndife- Director, Medical and Science Affairs, and Jones Chan- Director of Research and Development throughout the morning and afternoon.

3pm We dolled up in gowns, hairnets, earplugs, and goggles for a stroll through the vitamin factory. While it was fun to learn more about vitamins, dressing up and seeing the staff and machines at work was the highlight of my day! Can you spot me?

Of course we sampled all of the spankin new VitaMelt vitamin flavors as well. I specifically loved the Vitamin D, B12 Energy and Melatonin Sleep and Relax L-Theanine products. As a vegan and plant based nutritionist I see Vit D, B12 and Omega 3′s deficiencies daily. Chronic poor sleep is another common health and energy zapper. Did I mention they tasted like candy?

Friday:

9-4pm Talk show style video interviews and discussion between bloggers/ambassadors. Make-up and hair on set plus yummy food. After two full days of education we are all now official Nature’s Made Ambassadors.

Though I’ve extensively studied nutrition over the last decade I always learn something new. I had a blast with the other bloggers and can’t wait to share more of our experience with you.

I’m so excited about the power of filling in nutritional gaps that I have a new personal pledge and challenge for you! For the next 30 days I will not only eat a rainbow daily, but get my Vit D, B12 and Omega 3′s. These 3 vital nutrients are lacking the most in the typical American diet. I dare you to join me in the challenge. Are you up for fabulous self care? Worship the sun for at least 20 mins per day, eat your greens, algae, chia, flax and hemp. Catch some more zzz’s for me too!

Stay tuned for more highlights and challenge updates!
