So we got there at 10:28 AM and I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours for a preop bed! Sucked, but hey thats how it goes when your doc has a case run long and then has his whole schedule shift backwards. My trach cuff was blown by today. You know, isn’t it always blown by the time I get the stupid thing changed? Once in a while it survives but either way the thing smells foul and tends to mess with my secretion clearance by 28 days. No wonder the manual states DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE FOR MORE THAN 28 Days. Anyway while I was waiting my rehab physician Dr. Sun came down to talk to me about the likely possibility of getting Botox in my right scapula, for you nerds out there its the sub scapular muscle thats acting up, always super tight so need to get it tox’ed. Hopefully that will get it to release. Also going to experiment with TENS.
After arriving in Preop it was a smooth glide through, I went from Preop to the OR in about 35 minutes. Then we did the usual sevoflurane induction and Doc Walner did his stuff. Then I woke up in Post op, man today was a wicked procedure. High heart rate and mildly elevated temp. Going into OR I had a mildly elevated heart rate and temp, coming out the temp was same way but due to pain the heart rate was up around 140! This just shows you all that my cardiac system does NOT respond nicely to major pain. Thankfully my nurse was quick to get me bent on fent. While on the fent I was able to sing some rip off songs I made, Walking in the OR (Walking in Memphis) and Breathin In Sevoflurane (Walking on Broken Glass) By the time I came home I was pretty tired at 8 PM and so I slept for a few hours. Woke up and trach was itching. Lots of bleeding going on, there was a lot in the suction at the hospital.
So this all being said… GOODNIGHT everyone.
Coming soon to the blog, two NEW songs. Walking In the OR (Walking In Memphis) and Breathin In Sevo (walking on broken glass)
