receiving great joy by praying for someone else's happiness

In a previous article I talk about the importance of giving and how it not only can make a difference in the person receiving but in the givers life as well.
Today I'd like to talk about the power of praying for another persons happiness
I have a person in my life who I love very much however she is married and may start a family soon.
We spent time together in high school and she was the first person I've ever loved very deeply.
I lost touch with her when I went into the hospital for my last operation over 10 years ago I searched for her for a very long time and prayed that she was happy and safe. I recently found her and it turns out that she is happy and married to a Marine.
She says it's okay if we are friends
I could choose to be upset about permanently losing the chance to romantically love her but I feel strongly that she is a heavenly gift in my life and I would be doing a great disservice to myself and God to squander the gift that she is twice because of selfish desires.
I feel like God has answered my prayers that she is safe and has found happiness I feel like you would be incredibly selfish for me not to be happy and thankful to God.
I feel that God has told me the best way to honor my passionate love for her is to pray for her happiness even if I'm not part of her life.
I pray for her every night and get tremendous joy from doing so.
I tell everyone this in hopes that some of you will find someone to pray for and that it will generate happiness for both you and the recipients.
As I said in the article about giving , loving unselfishly and genuinely is one of the greatest things you can do and I believe it is one of the ways to true happiness.
