Goodwill industries of Pittsburgh announced its 2007 power to work awards last night at the Carnegie music Hall in Oakland, Pennsylvania.
I was fortunate enough to represent The Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology(RST) University of Pittsburgh, accepting the award with the department chair Dr. Rory Cooper. RST along with three other winners were chosen from over 100 candidates. RST has a very diverse if not the most diverse student population in the world. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged and recruited to apply to the program. The department also employs outstanding faculty and staff that happen to have disabilities as well.
It was a great evening honoring the achievements of individuals and programs committed to promoting the employment of individuals with disabilities. The Carnegie Music Hall provided a spectacular forum for the event. Having approximately 300 individuals committed to rehabilitation in the same room made for a great evening. Hopefully I can attend the annual event next year.
