As a Nurse Life Care Planner, when working on a plan for someone who has been blinded, there are numerous resources we can call upon to get the individual back to many, if not most, :

-Schools for the blind are excellent at teaching patients how to operate in and out of the home

-Home modifications conducted by a professionally trained consultant that will survey the home environment to make modifications for safety, lighting to maximize remaining vision for those will and other modifications specific to the individual’s capability and environment to increase independence in performing ADL’s

-A may be beneficial and included in the patient’s Life Care Plan.
